May wrap-up

May was a little light on posts, and that’s because it was a busy month! As such, I thought a wrap-up might be in order. Here are the May highlights:

1) On May 10, my husband became a U.S. Citizen! British by birth, American by choice (which is what the t-shirt I bought him said!). We had an awesome citizenship day. It started at the courthouse with him and 75 others getting sworn in. He registered to vote after the ceremony, and we went and applied for his passport the same day. Then we had a great party at our house with all of my family. I made a homemade apple pie (complete with star cut outs), and we made custard to go with it. A little nod to his dual citizenship – American apple pie and British custard!

2) We celebrated our fifth engagement anniversary. I know not everyone celebrates engagement anniversaries, but we do! I love any extra excuse for a nice meal out, and a day to celebrate all the great things we’ve shared for the past 5 years.

3) We planted a bunch. It included a new raised vegetable garden, adding some perennials to our back yarn, and planting annuals in the front yard.

4) We took a spur of the moment trip to Michigan over Memorial Day weekend. We made stops at the Indiana Dunes, St. Joseph and Holland. We also stopped at The Chocolate Garden on the way home to get some seriously delicious chocolate.

May was a great month, and I’m looking forward to June and warmer weather.
